This 18,000 sf home provides living spaces for the family, with room allocated for extended family to have separate apartments and guest quarters within the compound. This project represents the second vacation home which AXIOM has designed for the same family; they have a summer home in Mattpoisett, Massachusetts, completed in 1998.

Located on the Gulf Coast of Florida, the buildings are subject to a number of issues which influenced the design, including climate, hurricane safety and environmental issues (the preservation of indigenous species).

Design direction is taken from a number of historical precedents including the architecture of Colonial Florida, Caribbean Plantations and the Tropical Hacienda.
